Biografi Dr. Udo

Dr. Udo memperoleh gelar Bachelor of Science dari Universitas of British Columbia, lalu melanjutkan studi pascasarjananya di bidang biochemistry dan genetik.

Tahun 1980 merupakan titik balik dalam hidupnya ketika dia terkena keracunan pestisida. Untuk menyembuhkan dirinya, dia memusatkan perhatiannya dibidang nutrisi. Risetnya selama bertahun-tahun tertuang dalam buku pertamanya Fats and Oils (1986), menjadikan Udo sebagai pakar yang dicari di bidang tersebut.

Pada tahun 1986, Udo menjadi pioner dalam teknologi ekstraksi dan pengemasan lemak sehat dengan meniadakan tiga faktor utama yang dapat merusak nutrisi (dan menjadikannya toksik) minyak kaya EFA: Cahaya, panas, dan oksigen.

Udo mempublikasikan buku best-seller nya Fats That Heal Fats That Kill (1993) yang akhirnya dikenal sebagai "kitab suci dalam hal lemak", lalu ia menulis versi yang lebih ringkas berjudul Choosing the Right Fats (2001). Dia juga menulis buku Omega-3 Cuisine (2008) yang berisi resep-resep original bersama dengan koki selebritis Alan Roettinger.

Untuk menciptakan standar baru untuk minyak makanan dan produk-produk kesehatan lain, lini produk kesehatan Udo's Choice mulai diproduksi pada 1994.per greens blend with fermented greens, and pet supplements.

Pada 2005, Udo terpilih masuk ke CHFA (Canadian Health Food Association) Hall of Fame untuk usahanya yang tanpa lelah mengedukasi publik mengenai perbedaan lemak baik dan lemak buruh, dan untuk menjadi pioner dalam standar produksi yang tinggi untuk biji Flax dan minyak kaya lemak tak jenuh ganda lain. Metode-metode ini masih digunakan hingga saat ini. Pada 2017, dia dianugerahi status Hall of Fame dari National Nutrition.

In 2005, Udo was inducted into the CHFA Hall of Fame for his tireless efforts educating the public about the difference between good oils and bad oils and for pioneering higher production standards of unrefined flax and other polyunsaturated fat-rich oils, methods which are still used today. In 2017, he was awarded Hall of Fame status from National Nutrition.
